February 2008 | Basement Foundation
& Depot Move
<Back to the Main Page>

Finally, in late 2007, the Depot Relocation project commenced. Maxwell
Construction has been busy on site preparing the basement foundation walls
and infrastructure for the Depot Move, which was scheduled for Sunday,
February 11, 2008. The museum site is located on the northeast corner
of Veteran's Memorial Parkway and Highway 121, just south of Connersville,
IN.
The new basement foundations walls will
frame out utility space for new services, including water mains, sewage
ejector pumps and electrical service entrances (above). Placing
the formwork required detailed rebar designs (below).

Field verification of the existing building
dimensions was conducted to make sure that the building matched up to
the foundation in its new location (below).

The depot building beings its 50 mile
trek by maneuvering through Rushville (above).
Starting the journey on Highway 44, the depot leaves Rushville behind
for its new
home in Connersville (below).

The depot arrived on-site without problems.
Getting turned around might be tough (above). The contractor prepared
well enough, as the depot is maneuvered one last time prior to being placed
into its final location on the new foundation and floor framing (below).
