The Westfield Washington Public Library is 60,000 square feet of new library space, including room for expansion, for Westfield, Indiana. Partnering with the interior design firm DesignPlan, Halstead Architects has created a building which symbolizes the strength of knowledge with symmetrical wings radiating from a central interior atrium rotunda.

The materials palette, primarily red brick and limestone, will embody the owner's desire for a classical feel with modern flair.

A three dimensional massing study (ABOVE) illustrates how the main volumes
of the building will intersect the central rotunda. The main entrance (BELOW) accommodate a more pedestrian scale, yet it will maintain grand proportions with classical limestone detailing.

The "wing tips" (ABOVE) fashion glazing that will allow natural light to enter the building on symmetrical axes. The rotunda fashions clerestory level glazing to allow for light to fill the library's central interior entrance space. A clerestory level of glazing will also continue along the main entrance axis of the building (BELOW) to provide interior indirect lighting to the "hypostyle hall" style atrium space between the main library stack rooms.
