The Community Education Coalition, Inc. and partners, Urban Enterprise Association and the Greater Connersville Progress Committee, are pleased to unveil a proposed design for the Fayette County Arts and Science Center. This new facility will be located in the former Roots Pattern Shop, which has a long history of manufacturing in Connersville. The renovated building will host a variety of uses, including an exhibition gallery, children’s areas for music, art and science discovery, community theatre space, a ‘cyber café’, Community Education Coalition offices, other community offices and services, and community classrooms. This building also offers premium public space on the sixth floor, the highest enclosed space in the county!
The project will integrate a new egress stair reminiscent of barn silos, a glass curtain-wall observation tower and an abstract canopy which leads visitors to an exterior sculpture garden. The interior lobby (above) will combine the building's historic aesthetic with modern materials.
The cyber cafe (above) will have a focus on feeding the users of the building as well as providing a space to stay connected and communicate with the world. The sixth floor conference space (below) is not only the highest space in the County, but it will be the most well equipped space to provide for conferences, lectures, awards ceremonies and other events.
