Winter 2004 - 05 | Demolition

Buggs Temple Re-development construction began with demolition and masonry restoration. The existing facade was nearly falling off of the building, and many components on the interior were rotted and deteriorated.

Wood decking was removed to expose the old wood joists (above). Investigations found that the steel structure would need to be removed and replaced. The decision to replace the existing interior wood framing with steel framing was an expensive one, but it was necessary by code and for the best use of the building.

The windows and doors have been removed (above left)and are being replaced with wood windows to match the original and more durable commercial doors to withstand the use. Rotten framing members (above right) were replaced with new framing and will be covered up with new finishes during the final phase of the construction.

An elevator is going in this existing stair tower (below), which will serve each level of the facility. The existing stair towers will have the stairs replaced with steel and concrete stair components and plaster patched in to replicate the original wall finish.
